Howard P. Teter

Howard Paul Teter, age 84, of Vineland, NJ, was called home by God on April 3, 2021 after a long illness.

Howard Teter was born in November of 1936 in St. Martins, MD.  He was a member of the first graduating class of Stephen Decatur High School.  During high school, he loved playing baseball and pursued this passion even after graduation.  It was important to him that both his girls attempt to catch a ball.  He joined the Marine Corps (1955) and served his country honorably for 20 years, retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant.  He was married to his wife, Penny Teter, for more than 55 years.  After retiring from the Marine Corps, Howard drove his family in a motor home across the US to California and back to visit relatives and national parks.  He shared his love of the outdoors through camping trips, hikes, and canoeing.  Both outdoor and indoor gardens flourished under his care.

Howard is survived by his loving wife, Penny Teter (nee Leader) of Runnemede, NJ.  He was the loving father of Elizabeth, and Susan (Fred); devoted grandfather of Timothy Montney and Joan Amaya; and cherished brother of Fay McCabe, Frances Marell, and John E. Teter.  Howard is predeceased by his brother Cyrus Teter, and sisters Florence Cowart, and Charlotte Teter.

The funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.  Howard will be buried with military honors at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery.  The family asks that memorial gifts be directed to Community Bible Church of Barrington NJ or Haddon Heights Baptist Church of Haddon Heights NJ.  Funeral arrangements under the direction of DuBois Funeral Home, 700 South White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ 08106.  Condolences and memories may be shared at DuboisFuneralHome
